John Milanese with checks amounting to $10,635 toward the completion of the new church Our Lady of the Angels in Randolf VT. The Knights of Columbus Vermont State Council announces its 38th Annual Scholastic Achievement Awards Program, with eight $600.00 scholarships to be awarded this year. These awards are made to high school seniors qualifying to graduate in June 2008, to assist in furthering their education at an accredited school or college of their choice. Sons or daughters of a Knight of Columbus (paternal or legally adopted) in good standing in a subordinate Council within the Vermont jurisdiction are eligible. Sons or daughters of deceased members are also eligible if their father was in good standing at the time of his death. An applicant may be a member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of a Columbian Squires Circle, in the jurisdiction of Vermont and a high school senior qualifying to graduate in June, 2008. Merit scholarships will be awarded to four applicants with the four remaining awards presented to applicants, who in the opinion of the Scholastic Committee are most deserving. Applications may be obtained from the Guidance Offices of local high schools, local Knights of Columbus Councils, local Catholic parishes, or from members of the Scholastic Achievement Committee, listed below. Saint Francis Xavier School received $10,000 in grant funding from the
Winooski
Knights of Columbus, St. Stephens Council #2284, for the
school’s window
renovation project. Brian
Senecal,
Grand Knight, and Bruce Dupont, member of the Knights of Columbus,
presented the
check to Father Richard Lavalley, Pastor of Saint Francis Xavier
Church, and
members of the Saint Francis School Board and administration at their
meeting
on May 21, 2007. In
presenting the grant, Mr. Brian Senecal said, “This grant
builds on last year’s
donation of $10,000 from the Knights of Columbus for the window
replacement. We are
pleased to support
Saint Francis with our charitable contributions in this very necessary
and
